Job summary

A leading dairy company in Seremban, Malaysia is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the lab team and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and 1-2 years of experience in a related field. Responsibilities include supervising lab activities, conducting inspections, maintaining inventory, and preparing reports. Strong knowledge in GMP and HACCP standards is essential. This role requires excellent leadership and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of working experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of ISO22000 & FSSC22000 standards is a plus.
  • Experience in lab testing activities.

Job description

This role is required to supervise and monitor a team of lab assistant and QC Inspector to ensure that the incoming materials, semi-finished and finished products, as well as GMP and pest control activities meet acceptable specifications. Maintain and ensure food safety and quality activities uphold to the highest level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor all the lab activities covered from physical, chemical and microbiological test to ensure lab assistant is performing accordingly and reported if any issue found.
  • Supervise and monitor to ensure all the incoming raw material and packaging material is inspected accordingly and meet the specification.
  • Monitor the lab stock inventory level and arrange for purchases.
  • Conduct monthly inventory stock for lab items and warehouse QA finished goods.
  • Supervise and monitor for QC activities covered for on-line sampling, finished goods checking and hygiene and cleanliness verification.
  • Monitor the warehouse QA for stock release by conducting physical stock counting and release of finished goods.
  • To provide detailed report with root cause and corrective action if any quality/safety issue found in products.
  • Periodically perform GMP and pest control activities to ensure standard is complying and communicate to relevant department PIC for the corrective action.
  • Follow up on any non-conformities until they are resolved.
  • Ensure that laboratory instruments are maintained with high accuracy, while also maintaining lab consumables and lab hygiene to a high standard.
  • To maintain all the quality related documents and records keeping in a proper and tidy manner.
  • To prepare the monthly KPI report and presentation slide.
  • To do the quality induction training for new-comer and yearly quality refreshment training according to the standard requirement.
  • Assist the QA/QC cum Halal & Food Technologist as requested.
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the Quality & RND Manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or any related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of working experience in the related field.
  • Knowledge in GMP, HACCP standard requirement. Experience in higher standard (ISO22000 & FSSC22000) and handling audit is added advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge in lab testing activities and SAP system.
  • Highly organized, planning ability, leadership skills, analytical, follow up skills and able to work independently with a positive working attitude.
