Job description

The Assistant Manager, Planning & Production Control (PPC), is responsible for managing the holistic end-to-end planning and production control cycle to ensure stable, efficient, and predictable factory performance. This role oversees both Production Planning and Production Control, ensuring that demand, capacity, materials, and execution are fully aligned.

The Assistant Manager acts as a proactive bridge across all cross-functional stakeholders, including Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, Program, and Management. By anticipating requirements, resolving constraints early, and ensuring accurate data governance in Epicor, this role drives strong on-time delivery (OTD), healthy job flow, and disciplined planning execution.

The position requires a hands-on leader who can analyze capacity vs. loading, manage scheduling risks, improve planning standards, and lead the PPC team to fulfil internal and external requirements efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Holistic PPC Ownership: Govern the end-to-end planning & control cycle - MPS/MRP review, capacity loading, schedule release, build readiness, dispatching priorities, and job closure integrity.
  • Capacity & Materials Alignment: Balance demand vs. capacity (machines, manpower, critical resources), manage constraints, and resolve shortages with Purchasing/Warehouse.
  • Execution Control: Monitor schedule adherence, job aging, WIP accuracy, and OTD-to-Job; drive rapid issue resolution with Production, Engineering, and Quality.
  • Data & System Governance: Maintain accurate ERP/Epicor planning data (MOM, routings, calendars, capabilities, lead times) for trustworthy capacity and loading reports.
  • Performance Reporting: Publish weekly/monthly PPC dashboards - capacity vs. loading, schedule stability, shortages, OTD, job closures - and lead RCCA.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Lead Planners and Production Controllers; standardize processes, build team capability, and cultivate a disciplined planning culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive CI projects that improve planning accuracy, material flow, throughput, and ERP/reporting capability.
Skills / Educational / Others Requirements
  • 7+ years in Production Planning/Control/Scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related.
  • Strong grasp of MRP/MPS, capacity planning, and shop-floor execution dynamics.
  • ERP experience (Epicor preferred); advanced Excel and analytical skills.
  • Confident communicator and influencer across Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Quality.
  • Proven leadership in standardizing processes and developing team capability.
