A leading NHS Trust in Norwich is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join their team. The role involves sorting samples, registering them in the lab's information system, and assisting with patient enquiries. Applicants should have strong manual dexterity and an ability to work accurately. The position offers flexible working hours and participation in a 24-hour shift rota, including night shifts and weekends.
The Directorate of Laboratory Medicine, also known as Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA), encompasses Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology and Cytogenetics. EPA provides a range of analysis of blood, body fluids and tissues for the Hospital inpatient and outpatient population, all the GP’s in Norfolk and other neighbouring Trusts. The majority of samples arrive in the central reception area where they are sorted, registered on the lab computer systems and prepared for analysis.
A good deal of manual dexterity is required, with an ability to work carefully and accurately and to use own initiative.
This post will be part of the departmental 24-hour shift rota, including 1 week in 8 of night shifts and 1 weekend in 4.
Full time 37.5 hours per week
