An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist to work within the Adnexal Service at City Road sites on a fixed term basis for 6 months. This part-time consultant post offers 4.38 programmed activities (PAs) of which 3.50 provide direct clinical care (DCC)and 0.88 for supporting professional activities
This post will focus on the delivery of a medical Ophthalmology support to patients with inflammatory orbital and periocular disease, and patients co-managed in the combined adnexal/ocular surface clinic. They will have responsibility for continued development of Governance of the Adnexal patients requiring such treatment both at the City Road site, andelsewhere within the Trust. The post includes the supervision and teaching of junior staff.
A proposed timetable will be agreed with the Service Director and then be incorporated into the successful applicant's contract. The timetable/programme may change with time depending on the specialist expertise of the post holder, the needs of the hospital and the service demands.
The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice.
Lead and implement immunosuppression therapies, protocols and governance for therapiesused for orbital inflammatory patientsSupport and manage IV steroid therapy in the MEH Orbital service with other clinicians (nurses, pharmacists, anaesthetists and doctors)Support and lead on the medical care of complex orbital patients (e.g. GPA, Sarcoidosis) and Associated comorbidities such as DM, Hypertension and Respiratory issues
