Clinical Lead Physiotherapist - MCATS, MSK

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly skilled musculoskeletal physiotherapist to join the team at Kings College Hospital as a Clinical Lead physiotherapist in MCATS.

Alongside strong leadership skills, the post holder will be a clinical expert in the management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions and will ensure delivery of a high quality service throughout the department.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide expert clinical intervention for patients with musculoskeletal problems attending the Musculoskeletal Clinical Assessment & Treatment Service (MCATS), developing and using advanced clinical practice as required
  • The postholder may be required to train to work in other related secondary care clinics, virtual fracture clinic or FCP as required
  • To be responsible for clinical leadership and service development within the physiotherapy musculoskeletal service at Kings College Hospital

Job responsibilities
  • To use expert physiotherapy knowledge skills to provide specialist support and advice to the musculoskeletal team, Orthopaedic consultants, Rheumatologists, Spinal Surgeons, GPs and other healthcare staff, and to manage own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner
  • To ensure a high quality, effective and efficient physiotherapy service in the musculoskeletal outpatient department
  • To be a member of the Physiotherapy Department Management team, contributing to planning and policy development in the physiotherapy department, and deputise for the Deputy Head of Physiotherapy as required Please see the job description for full details.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • BSc or recognised postgraduate MSc in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the HCPC
  • Undertaken post-graduate Clinical and managerial/ Leadership courses
  • MSC. In related subject
Cliical Experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and treatment skills including spinal conditions
  • Significant post graduate experience in NHS
  • In-patient orthopaedic experience

  • Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
  • Experience of service development and change management
