Job description

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated HART Education Manager to join the HART Training Team at Winchester & Eastleigh Resource Centre, on a permanent basis.

The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) is a specialist capability within the ambulance service required to extend paramedic care to patients within the inner cordon or hot zone. The aim of the HART capability is to increase survival rates and improve clinical outcomes, by extending NHS care into hazardous areas or environments to reduce any care gaps. These situations may be large-scale major incidents, or they may include more routine incidents.

In addition to the extensive additional training in specialist capabilities and working within safe systems of work, HART Education Managers are expected to be proficient in the use of a wide range of specialist protective clothing and incident management.

Detailed information regarding the criteria required for a HART Education Manager is available within the Job Description and Person Specification.

Applicants should be aware that HART is both a national and local ambulance capability. In the event of large-scale incidents; staff may be required to work nationally anywhere in the UK.

Due to the complex and specialist nature of HART, staff will be required to attend local and national exercises, and residential training courses.

The HART Education Manager will be responsible for an individual portfolio of HART education, training, and development, and provide subject matter expertise as allocated by the HART Training & Development Manager.

The HART Education Manager role involves leadership, mentorship, and training to all HART staff and across all key capability areas.

The post offers an exciting opportunity and career development for someone with enthusiasm and dedication to maintaining the high standards and the advancement of current and future HART practices.

The successful applicants will hold a valued place in the HART Education Team.

We would like the successful candidate to commence with the HART unit as soon as possible.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview day, (and an assigned micro project on the day, relating to HART education and planning)

There will also be a question paper, drawn from the Ambulance command and control guidance and HART information from SOPs and Pro-Clus. Candidates must also complete or hold an in-date HART PCA and meet the weigh no more than 115kg for PPE and equipment limitations.

Benefits we offer:

  • Full training and a range of courses which you can book locally.
  • Holiday entitlement of 27 days, rising to 29 days after 5 years’ service and 33 days after 10 years’ service, plus an additional 8 days bank holiday (pro rata for part time).
  • Automatic enrolment into the NHS Pension Scheme.
  • Access to continual professional development within SCAS and the wider NHS.
  • Occupational Health support and direct access to our Employee Assistance Programme as well as our own Health and Wellbeing Team.
  • NHS Discounts in over 200 + stores saving money on holidays, days out, car insurance, restaurants, clothing and much more.
  • Ability to join our staff networking groups (as a member, ally or just for interest).
