Job description
Overview

What skills and experience we're looking for

Our OFSTED rated ‘Good’ school is looking for an outstanding practitioner to work as a General Learning Support Assistant in Year 5 in the mornings and as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant working predominately with Year 1 and Year 2 in the afternoons. The HLTA role is to provide cover for the four classes across the team, both planned and unplanned. The candidate would require to have knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and demonstrate a good understanding of the grammar and mathematics taught at this level in the school. The general LSA post is for a class-based role that will provide support for pupils in the morning in a specific Year 5 class.

For all posts we would like to hear from you if you:

  • have proven HLTA experience
  • have a commitment to active learning
  • are able to demonstrate a good use of initiative and responsibility to support pupils’ learning
  • are able to take on others’ ideas
  • are able to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the ever-changing school day
  • have knowledge of both the KS1 and KS2 curriculums
Responsibilities and expectations

Our curriculum is set up to explore learning through a hands-on approach that requires skilled professionals to have the ability to promote what is being seen as well as knowing the curriculum well enough to make connections with other areas of the curriculum at the same time; i.e. development of grammar through an investigation or the use of speech. Candidates need to also recognise the small steps that a child needs to take and how this is recorded as part of their individual learning plan. This skilled role will enable a child to unlock their learning and become confident learners – a privileged position indeed.
