Job description
Overview

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) role within NHS Talking Therapies in South East Essex. The post holders will work in a busy service alongside a large multidisciplinary team, delivering NICE-approved interventions for depression and anxiety disorders. We welcome applicants who are committed to the local region, from diverse backgrounds, and with lived experience relevant to mental health work.

Therapy For You is an NHS Talking Therapies primary care service serving SE and NE Essex, delivering self-help psycho-educational courses, therapy groups, online/digital therapies, and individual therapies including CBT, DIT, IPT and EMDR to adults with mild to severe anxiety and depression.

The successful applicants will be skilled in assessment and treatment provision for Step 2 interventions, highly motivated to organise and prioritise their own workload, and have completed an NHS Talking Therapies-compliant training. Some out-of-hours work (evenings or Saturdays) may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
  • Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
  • Conduct patient-centred interviews to identify areas for change, and assess risk to self and others.
  • Provide information and support for evidence-based high-volume, low-intensity psychological treatments, including guided self-help, computerised CBT, and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face-to-face, by telephone, or via other media.
Qualifications
  • Hold an NHS Talking Therapies compliant Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification from a programme accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • Offer evidence-based practice in facilitated self-help, computerised CBT, and stress management groups.
  • Work within the NHS Talking Therapies service delivering high-volume, low-intensity interventions (CBT-based self-management) to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and keep treatment accessible.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings related to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
