Overview
Employee Relations Specialist – North London / Hybrid.
Rate: £29.79 per hour (Umbrella)
A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join on an interim basis. The role will provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment law and promoting sound employee relations across the organisation.
Responsibilities
Deliver a professional, accurate and timely HR advisory service to managers and staff.
Support managers with complex employee relations cases including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, and absence management.
Advise on organisational change projects, including restructures and redundancies.
Build strong relationships with senior leaders, managers, and trade union representatives.
Monitor and update casework schedules and performance data, identifying trends and advising on interventions.
Support manager development through coaching, HR training, and workshops.
Experience & Knowledge
HR experience in a Local Government or public sector setting, ideally within a unionised, multi-site environment.
Strong track record in handling complex ER casework and organisational change.
Excellent knowledge of employment law, policies and procedures, and best practice.
Skilled in working with trade unions and managing employee relations collaboratively.
Understanding of equality, diversity, safeguarding, and their application in ER practice.
Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
