Health & Safety Manager – Major Infrastructure Project (UK)
The Company
Linum Consult’s client is a leading international main contractor with a proven track record in delivering large-scale EPC and infrastructure projects worldwide. They are currently engaged on a once-in-a- nuclear project in the UK, playing a key role in the country’s clean energy future. As part of this development, they are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to oversee and coordinate all health, safety, and wellbeing activities across a critical ground engineering package.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading the project’s health and safety function, ensuring Zero Harm culture, compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, and adherence to site-specific standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing the project’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Management Plan
- Ensuring compliance with the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and all site safety standards
- Coordinating with the Principal Contractor, Principal Designer, and subcontractors to approve safe systems of work before execution
- Leading the preparation, review, and approval of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Monitoring compliance for excavation, lifting operations, working at height, hazardous substances, plant, and equipment
- Leading investigations into incidents and near misses, producing root cause analysis reports and ensuring corrective actions are completed
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations
- Delivering safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions tailored to high-risk ground engineering activities
- Promoting the company’s Zero Harm culture and embedding 10 Life Saving Rules across site teams
- Ensuring robust emergency preparedness measures, including First Aid and Mental Health Support
The Candidate
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- NVQ Level 5 or 6 in Health & Safety
- Significant experience in health & safety management on large-scale construction or engineering projects
- Proven ability to develop and implement H&S management systems
- Strong skills in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Confident in managing and analysing safety data (Excel, Word, and digital reporting tools)
- Must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to work on-site.
