Principal Network Compliance Officer
Job summary
A local authority in North West London is seeking a Principal Network Compliance Officer. This role involves overseeing compliance with highway regulations, providing leadership and expert guidance, and ensuring safety inspections are conducted effectively. Candidates must possess expert knowledge of the Traffic Management Act and the New Roads and Street Works Act, along with the relevant qualifications. The successful applicant will need to manage court cases and support legal teams as necessary.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of Traffic Management Act 2004 and New Roads & Street Works Act 1991.
- Supervisor’s qualification (City & Guilds Units 1 to 16) is required.
- Experience in highway inspection and/or maintenance is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Network Team Leader to ensure service delivery.
- Provide a lead role for compliance in highway maintenance and inspections.
- Report and improve street works and highways safety inspections.
- Issue notices to statutory undertakers regarding highway activities.
- Prepare reports for legal proceedings and give evidence in court.

My clientis recruiting for aPrincipal Network Compliance Officer based within the local Authority in North West London and the surrounding area.
- Deputise for the Network Team Leader as necessary to ensure continuance of service delivery.
- To provide a lead role within New Roads and Streetworks Act, Highways Act and Highways maintenance, acting as a coach and providing expert guidance to other Technical Officers and Technical Support Officers designated to support them in delivering effective services
- To be responsible for day to day inspection and enforcement regimes for statutory street works and highways safety and enforcement inspections and report on conditions to bring about improvements
- To issue notices to statutory undertakers and other departments in relation to the timing of activities on the highway network
- Prepare, as necessary, reports and statements of evidence for legal proceedings resulting from contraventions of legislation, to meet and advise lawyers on cases to assist in the preparation of cases and securing legal action and to attend court to give evidence on behalf of the Council as required.
- Expert Knowledge of Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 & LoPS.
- New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 supervisor’s qualification (City & Guilds Units 1 to 16).
- Experience in highway inspection and/or maintenance.
- As the role is Local Authority based candidates will be asked to complete an onboarding & compliancechecks including DBS & Online training modulesprior to starting.
