A local government authority in Northern Ireland is seeking a Greenspace Liaison and Asset Compliance Officer to enhance its communities through effective management of parks, allotments, and open spaces. The successful candidate will conduct inspections, support community stewardship, and maintain records. We are looking to recruit a Greenspace Liaison and Asset Compliance Officer to provide a proactive, consistent and customer‑focused service across the Council’s Greenspace portfolio, including allotments, bowling greens, parks and open spaces.
The postholder will act as the primary face‑to‑face contact for allotment tenants, sports clubs and community groups while taking responsibility for structured inspections, safety checks and compliance across all environmental assets, including the monitoring of safety in the assets portfolio.
This role will strengthen operational oversight, ensure compliance with statutory requirements and promote positive relationships with the public and community stakeholders. The post is a designated customer‑facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
• Conduct structured inspections across parks, open spaces and environmental assets, accurately recording findings and ensuring timely follow‑up on remedial actions.
• Maintain accurate records and produce clear written reports.
• Take accurate minutes at meetings, handle information responsibly and maintain confidentiality in line with Council procedures.
• Plan and prioritise workload in a fast‑paced, varied environment, working independently and as part of a wider team.
• Engage positively with the public, support community stewardship and maintain constructive relationships with tenants, clubs and stakeholders.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, travel across the borough and occasionally work outside normal office hours.
• Experience and confidence in operational work, community‑facing services or public‑realm environments.
• Proactive, organised and detail‑focused, with a sound understanding of risk, safety requirements and compliance standards within greenspace environments.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills; practical experience managing processes, maintaining records and producing reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email) and able to navigate digital inspection or record‑keeping systems effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Grade G Scp 23 £34,434 to Scp 27 £38,220, plus car allowance.
