Job Description:
Our client, a globally renowned Live Events organisation, is seeking a hands-on Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join their team and lead several new projects. This role will require the line management of a senior engineer and will report to the Head of Infrastructure.
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee design, deployment, maintenance, and security of servers, networks, firewalls, backup systems, cloud services, and telephony systems.
- Operations and Maintenance: Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance. Monitor infrastructure, maintain documentation, and implement disaster recovery plans.
- Project Management: Lead infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with IT strategy.
- Incident and Problem Management: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, improve incident response processes, and minimize downtime.
- Security and Compliance: Maintain IT security policies, address vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 (AAD, Intune, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019 and core infrastructure services
- Experience with virtualization, firewalls, networking, Wi-Fi, backup, endpoint security, and MDM
- Technical documentation skills
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Networking certifications (CCNA/CCNP)
- Experience with Cisco network switches, Fortinet firewalls, Veeam Backup, VMware, and telephony systems
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (PRTG, Zabbix)
- Understanding of GDPR
