Job Description

Essential:

5+ years' experience in Senior Data Science position

UK British passport holders only

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing actionable insights across a suite of projects, primarily in Aviation and Defence.

The role requires analytical skills and versatility to evaluate problems and apply suitable tools and techniques to drive successful outcomes. This may include rigorous statistical analysis or the development of advanced, computationally intensive numerical models. Programming experience and mastery of handling large datasets are essential.

The role involves a mix of home and onsite work, with an expectation that the candidate will manage their own time to best serve customer needs. The candidate will be required to work in the Guildford office 2 days/week.

Required Skills

This role demands excellent insight and the ability to formulate creative solutions to complex problems involving contextual data. A passion for learning and the ability to develop deep subject matter expertise are vital. Effective communication and teamwork with data scientists and developers are also essential.

Specifically, successful candidates should possess:

• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using libraries such as SciKit Learn, Pandas, and Numpy being highly desirable.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch or TensorFlow.
• An understanding of the full data science project lifecycle, from problem statement through data engineering, model building, and evaluation.
• Ability to perform ad-hoc data mining and integrate/enrich large structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• A good understanding of statistics and probability; a strong foundation in calculus, linear algebra, and analysis is advantageous.
