SOC Analyst (Tier 1) Staffordshire Hybrid GBP25,000 – GBP30,000

About the Role:An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Tier 1 SOC Analyst to join a growing cyber security operations team based just outside of Stone. This is a hybrid role, offering 1 day working from home, with the chance to gain hands–on experience in a fast–paced, security–focused environment.

The Opportunity:This is a fantastic role for someone early in their cyber security career, looking to build strong foundations in a structured and supportive SOC environment. You'll be involved in the day–to–day monitoring and triage of security events, with access to experienced colleagues, mentorship, and the opportunity to grow into more advanced responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and triage security alerts from SIEM and EDR platforms.

• Investigate potential security incidents and escalate as needed.

• Analyse logs from various systems including firewalls, endpoints, and cloud environments.

• Support threat intelligence efforts by identifying indicators of compromise (IOCs).

• Document triage actions, observations, and escalations clearly and accurately.

• Assist in fine–tuning detection rules to reduce false positives over time.

• Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and cross–team collaboration.

• Contribute ideas to improve SOC tools, processes, and workflows.

• Get involved in the build–out of the new SOC infrastructure and daily operations.

About You:You're curious, analytical, and keen to learn. This role is perfect for someone who may have completed a cyber security degree, bootcamp, certification, or hands–on labs – and is now ready to apply that knowledge in a real–world environment.

You'll ideally have:

• Up to 1 year of experience in a cyber security or technical support role (SOC experience is a bonus).

• Familiarity with SIEM tools and basic incident response concepts.

• Understanding of common network protocols, cyber threats, and operating systems.

• Exposure to log analysis and a passion for problem–solving.

• A desire to grow within a SOC environment and contribute to a high–performing team.

Desirable:

• Any relevant certification such as Security+, CompTIA CySA+, or equivalent.

• Practical experience gained through labs, home projects, internships, or bootcamps.
