Title and Summary

Senior Software Engineer in Test Overview

The Mastercard/Ethoca Consumer Clarity team is looking for a Senior Software Developer in Test passionate about software quality and customer satisfaction to join our fast-paced team. You will be responsible from functional testing to release validation via high test coverage in automation. The ideal candidate will be highly technical, motivated, detail-oriented, have a sense of urgency, and focus on delivering high-quality products on time.

Role:

1. Work as a member of an agile team to design, build, test, and deploy new products and features.
2. Create test plans to achieve the best test approach in collaboration with team members.
3. Create comprehensive and well-structured test cases for all test types in scope.
4. Design automated tests for features.
5. Independently design and implement modularized, data-driven, and reusable tests that can be executed on different environments.
6. Develop, maintain, and identify improvements to the automation commons libraries and framework that will be used by the scrum teams.
7. Troubleshoot defects to resolution and closure.
8. Ensure test assets are kept up to date and continually evaluated against test objectives (maintain all testing assets).
9. Execute automated test suites against the released version of the application with a goal of maintaining 100% test stability.
10. Support the release process by executing and maintaining test suites for smoke, sanity, regression, and operational validation.
11. Conduct reviews of test case coverage for any test types in scope to ensure appropriate risk-based testing approach is achieved.
12. Conduct peer code reviews, providing feedback around logical implementation, and best practice improvement opportunities around patterns, algorithms, library usage, etc.
13. Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to more junior team members.
14. Make technology recommendations that balance business needs and technical requirements.
15. Proactively understand stakeholder needs, goals, expectations, and viewpoints to deliver results.
16. Independently apply problem-solving skills to identify symptoms and root causes of issues.
17. Make effective and efficient decisions even when data is ambiguous.
18. Thrive in a highly collaborative company environment where agility is paramount.

About you:

1. Experience with one or more object-oriented languages and/or functional languages (Java (Preferred), Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, Groovy) and secure coding standards and best practices.
2. Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks using Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, etc.
3. Extensive experience in testing Restful API & HTTP web services, JSON/XML, and Web-based applications.
4. Working Knowledge with CI/CD and continuous testing approach using tools such as Jenkins and Maven.
5. Experience with Cloud infrastructure and VM platforms like Azure/AWS/Kubernetes and VirtualBox/Vagrant.
6. Experience with performance testing tools like Jmeter, Blazemeter.
7. Understand ETL process, data model, object/entity relationship, and relational databases.
8. Proficient in QA process & methodologies, tools, and different testing approaches.
9. Knowledge of modern best practices for software development including IDE, source control, build processes, release management, and deployment.
10. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail, critical thinking, solid communication and proven leadership skills - with the ability to lead multiple test paths simultaneously.
11. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
