Job Title: VMWare vCloud/NSX and Network Engineer

Overview:
Our client is looking for an experienced VMWare vCloud/NSX and Network Engineer to support their team. vCloud and NSX V or T experience is a must. The work is challenging with opportunities to grow. Working with our client is serious business but it’s also about having fun and teamwork. Their Head Office is in Oakville and for now, you’ll be mostly working from home. Regular team meetings at the office will help you get to know the team of professionals you are working with.

What you will be doing:

Primary Responsibility
  • Run, maintain, update and monitor, Hyperscale VMware based, global cloud infrastructure (vSphere, NSX, vCloud).
  • Strong ability to interact with all levels of the organization and take on engineering escalation about infrastructure issues, raised by the front line tier 1-3 support team.
  • Running and maintaining geographically diverse MinIO based, Hyper Scale, Cloud Object storage clusters.
  • Broad range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine, in variety of environments.
  • Communicating and troubleshooting with software and hardware vendors.
  • Maintain and build scripts to manage the cloud infrastructure and server instances.
  • Develop testing and implementation plans for projects with multiple moving parts.
  • Consistently provide high quality work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Participate in Sales calls to provide technical lead for the future solutions.
  • Accountable for accomplishing tasks both independently and collaboratively.
Secondary Responsibility
  • Run, setup, maintain and monitor global core MPLS network infrastructure across multiple global Data Centers and customers.
  • Provide top level network support within defined SLAs.
  • Run, setup, maintain and monitor multihomed global Internet infrastructure (AS396984).
  • Run, setup and maintain hardware in the physical Data Centers.
  • Conduct short-term and long-term network architecture planning to meet current and expanding business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot data center router, firewall and switch connectivity.
  • Monitor and maintain local DC storage clusters and FibreChannel SAN.

What you must have:

  • Required experience and understanding with the following technologies:
    • VMWare vSphere, vCloud Director, vRealize.
    • VMWare NSX-V and NSX-T.
    • Grafana, Prometheus, LogicMonitor.
    • Deep understanding of Linux and Windows Server.
    • Scripting and automation.
    • Core and Edge networking (MPLS, OSPF, BGP).
    • VMware NSX Edge deep networking.
    • VPN Technologies (SSL, L2TP, etc…) based on OpenVPN, NSX or ASA.
    • Server hardware – particularly HP and Supermicro.
    • FibreChannel Concepts.
    • Cisco Nexus, ASR and ASA.
    • S3 Object based storage.
    • MinIO Hyperscale object storage.
    • Enterprise storage concepts – Erasure coding, RAID, SAN, NFS etc.
  • Curiosity with the ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and accurately in non-technical ways.
  • Excellent written communication skills to keep meticulous documentation.
  • Creativity, flexibility, professionalism, and a “can do” attitude.
  • Comfortable working under deadlines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems for users.
  • Must be able to independently resolve widely varying problems using current job knowledge, research, and external resources.
  • Highly motivated and strong interpersonal skills as you will interface with all levels of staff.
  • A willingness to help out in various areas and contribute to the success and growth of your team.
  • Bachelors Degree, IT qualifications or equivalent experience.

Salary/Rate Range: 110,000.00 - 120,000.00
