Job Title:Physiotherapist

Responsible To:Director of Care
Purpose:
To provide physiotherapy services that promote residents' physical function, mobility, and quality of life in accordance with evidence-based practices and facility protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for residents with a range of medical conditions.
- Implement therapeutic interventions, including exercise programs, manual therapy, and mobility training.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nursing, occupational therapy, and recreation staff, to coordinate resident care.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document residents' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Provide education to residents, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic exercises and mobility strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures during treatment sessions.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and participation in professional development activities.
- Perform other related duties as required for the efficient operation of the physiotherapy program.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed throughout the facility and may require frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning of residents. Must be able to assist residents with mobility and transfers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists.
- Previous work experience in a healthcare setting or long-term care is considered an asset.
- Strong clinical skills with knowledge of evidence-based physiotherapy practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of professional practice and resident-centered care.
Working Hours:
Permanent full-time position; hours subject to rotation and may include weekends and holidays.
