Vice President, People, Culture & Belonging - Nova Scotia Health (Filled)

Royer Thompson Management & Human Resources Consulting
Halifax
CAD 100,000 - 160,000
Job description

A transformative HR leadership opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is dedicated to excellence in health, healing and learning, providing health services to Nova Scotians and specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. An integrated, provincial health organization, Nova Scotia Health brings together 23,000 employees, 2,600 physicians, 8,733 nurses, 5,000 learners and 7,000 volunteers. With nine regional hospitals, one quaternary care centre and over 135 service sites, including community hospitals and community services, Nova Scotia Health is supported by over 40 Healthcare Foundations and 33 auxiliaries that raise funds to support facilities, healthcare innovation and services.

Over the past two years, in particular, health professionals, staff and volunteers have stepped up in extremely difficult circumstances to support each other and to deliver for patients and the community. Going forward, Nova Scotia Health is doubling down on its efforts to care for those who care for others. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President, People, Culture & Belonging is a new position within the executive leadership team and reflects the critical role and unique needs of health care professionals. The Vice President is a champion for the people. They listen, understand and articulate the employee value proposition and lead efforts to attract and develop top talent, build meaningful career opportunities, manage human resources and contribute to a positive, inclusive and innovative culture. They seek feedback from employees and incorporate data and insight in decision making.

The Vice President, People, Culture & Belonging leads the HR team and champions the employee experience including human resource planning; culture alignment; equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation, competency modelling, career mapping and leadership development, labour relations, recruitment and retention, organizational design, occupational health, safety and wellness, and volunteer services, compensation and benefits.

The successful candidate has at least 10 years experience at a senior HR leadership level involved in leading the HR function, planning and implementing systems change and aligning human resources, culture, people services and organizational outcomes. A university degree with a preference for graduate-level education in a related field is required. An understanding of healthcare and public policy is an asset. They have a track record of championing people and an inclusive culture and cultivating a sense of belonging and a compelling employer brand that has attracted, retained and developed top talent. The successful candidate is skilled at capturing and utilizing data and insight to inform strategy, decision-making and engagement across the organization. Strategic yet practical with a bias for action, the successful candidate is a problem-solver and is proud of their success in helping others succeed within a large, unionized, multi-site organization.

Royer Thompson is committed to presenting a diverse and inclusive roster of candidates to our clients. We welcome and encourage applications from the following under-represented groups: Indigenous persons, racially visible persons, persons with a disability, women, and persons of a minority sexual orientation and/or gender identity. If you are a member of one of these under-represented groups, we invite you to self-identify on your cover letter, or resume.

Nova Scotia Health will provide accommodations to applicants with disabilities. If you require an accommodation(s) to participate in the application, interviewing or selection process, please contact Brent Wallace at bwallace@royerthompson.com.

Please submit your resume and interest online by clicking “Apply.” For further information about this opportunity, please contact Amy Reid (areid@royerthompson.com) or Kim West (kwest@royerthompson.com) in confidence at 902-422-2099.
