For more than 80 years, Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS), a not-for-profit organization, has been providing security services to Nova Scotian companies and organizations throughout the province. Historically known for its social mandate to provide meaningful employment to Canadian veterans, CNS now employs more than 1400 trained professionals at over 200 sites across the province. CNS is a leader in providing multifaceted security services including guarding, threat risk assessments, by-law enforcement, police clearances, federally certified unmanned aerial systems, closed circuit television monitoring, record suspension, and US waiver services.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of CNS’s executive team, responsible for strategic financial leadership, contributing to continued growth and impact of the organization as the leading integrated security provider in Nova Scotia. The CFO provides financial oversight, financial reporting, cost management, forecasting, data/analysis and insights, budgeting, capital deployment, and regulatory filings, contributing to operational excellence and the strategic way forward.
As the ideal candidate you have a relevant degree combined with a CPA designation and bring at least 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, demonstrated business acumen, and exceptional communication skills. Respected as an accomplished and experienced leader and critical thinker with a high level of integrity and standard of ethics, the CFO seeks to cultivate and develop collegial, trusted relationships with multiple stakeholder groups. Additionally, the ideal candidate can demonstrate success in building, mentoring, and empowering high-performing teams. The CFO is driven by the mission, vision, and the importance of CNS’ work in Nova Scotia. Military, RCMP, security sector, or not-for-profit experience is considered an asset.
