About the role
This position has security accountabilities within the EAST region (Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pac) to support the businesses to achieve their operational and commercial objectives across a complex regulated and high-security risk environment. This is the most senior security management position within the EAST Region and reports directly to the Head of CSI. This position has domestic and international security accountabilities within the EAST region. It leads the regional implementation of the Corporate Security Policy and Group Security Standards and the development and delivery of risk-based continuous improvement activities. This role includes direct and indirect functional management of regional security managers and additional security personnel. In addition to the regional responsibilities, this role is also accountable for ensuring Haleon group security standards are fit for purpose and will take the lead for specific security initiatives as directed by the Head of CSI.
Key responsibilities
Develops security strategy for the EAST region and ensures alignment with global security strategy and regional business needs.
Maintains a strong understanding of global risks and associated security regulations; identifies significant security risks related to the business operations; directs the design and implementation of programs to prevent and reduce loss of assets.
Ensures effective deployment of the strategy, security programs, and the security management system working through site leadership and regional/local security teams and in close coordination with the Senior Security Program Manager.
Responsible for the ongoing review and implementation of Haleon group supply chain security risks (transport and 3rd party locations) through development of group security standards, external assurance process, and accurate risk reporting. Close working coordination with Global Procurement, Insurance, and sector supply chain teams.
Responsible for indirect line management of regional security teams with a focus on right role, right people, technical development, capability building, and identification of talent for succession planning.
Works with regional business and security teams to ensure the security operational budget & capital expense projects operational requirements and procurement processes are met with the correct quality and that solutions are fit for purpose in line with the risk appetite and strategy.
Accountability for the rationalization and professionalization of strategic security service suppliers in the region through close cooperation with Haleon Procurement. Ensuring relationship oversight and governance is in place and delivered with 3rd party security partners in the region.
Build, develop, and lead an effective network of Security Champions in the EAST region to drive standardization of good practice and learning.
Communicates regional security performance metrics and associated reporting as directed by the Central Operations Programme manager. Identifies and drives improvements.
Directs the approach, deployment, and of security support to investigations within the EAST.
Supports the Group Business Continuity Manager by delivering BC training and Crisis Management training to non-significant sites across the region.
Maintain a close working relationship with other corporate functions particularly Quality, Supply Chain, IT, WPS, LCCS, and Procurement.
Business partnering and consultative support to ensure that sites are aware of their security risks and development of cost-effective, commercially focused security solutions.
Conduct 2nd line of defense audits in accordance with the annual site assessment programme plan and ad-hoc assurance assignments as requested and follow up on open actions to ensure that sites are actively implementing mitigating activities.
Supports investigative and anti-counterfeit teams when appropriate and consults on security risk mitigation requirements.
Support the Senior Security Program Manager in the ongoing development and deployment across Haleon of risk-based security procedures and guidance documents.
Develop key liaisons with external agencies such as law enforcement, customs and excise, intelligence agencies, and industry groups to ensure that security threats to the business are known.
Qualifications and skills
Experience in security management from either a former public body (i.e. police, military) or from working within a security function in a commercial company.
Demonstrated decision-making and project management skills.
Must be highly and effectively organized.
Must be flexible, self-starter, team-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Ability to assess/analyze complex business information and develop appropriate conclusions.
