They are expanding their operations and are seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join this dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of clean energy in the region.Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on a wide range of matters related to renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and storage.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements, and financing documents.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, licensing, and permitting requirements for renewable energy projects in South Africa.
• Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with project development, financing, construction, and operation.
• Conduct legal due diligence for potential acquisitions and investments in the renewable energy space.
• Liaise with external legal counsel, government authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of developments in renewable energy law, policy, and industry trends.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Admitted Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 2 years of post-admission experience as a Legal Counsel or in a reputable law firm, with a demonstrable focus on renewable energy projects.
• In-depth knowledge of South African energy law, environmental law, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., NERSA and IPP Procurement Programme).
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts within the energy sector.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of other South African official languages is an advantage.
