The Senior Procurement Manager of Agricultural Commodities & Sustainability will support the current lead for Africa in overseeing the sourcing, procurement, and management of critical agricultural commodities for our operations across the African continent. This role requires deep expertise in agricultural markets, supply chain management, and procurement strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving cost efficiencies, ensuring supply resilience, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
What You’ll Do for Us :
Category management
- Establish & Implement sourcing strategy for the portfolio that aligns with the Operating Unit’s strategy and ensures coordination with global leads for each category, focusing on continuity of supply, competitiveness, quality, and sustainability.
- Manage stakeholder engagement through education programs, workshops, and information sharing.
- Build supply resilience across sensitive and risky categories.
- Ensure alignment on sourcing protocols among stakeholders including CPS (Commercial Products Supply) R&D, bottlers, marketing, and Technical Operating Units.
- Develop and nurture supplier relationships to support strategic goals.
- Lead regional negotiations.
- Support the implementation of company sustainability goals and participate in relevant projects affecting the region.
- Implement effective procurement practices and tools.
Negotiation responsibilities :
- Gather volume data and specific needs from CPS plants, bottlers, and Operating Units (preferred INCOTERMs, pack constraints).
- Lead pre-negotiation discussions to understand needs, share context, and analyze cost trends; conduct post-negotiation reviews.
- Coordinate with global category leads even for local purchases.
- Develop regional category strategy white papers considering the specific needs of the Operating Units and customers.
- Adhere to company guidance, policies, and confidentiality during procurement processes.
Other responsibilities :
- Collect and provide regional procurement data for cost forecasting to finance, CPS, and global teams.
- Align stakeholders on strategy and gather insights on needs and industry trends.
- Provide market updates in various forums.
- Analyze industry data to inform strategy.
- Optimize end-to-end supply chain, reduce complexity, and support new product launches.
- Influence development of new products and innovations for resilient commodities and multi-sourcing.
- Manage supplier communication and resolution of incidents, including cost avoidance efforts.
- Ensure legal aspects of contracts are covered regionally.
- Lead regional projects related to juice supply and sustainability initiatives, including water, carbon footprint, and deforestation.
- Maintain databases on juice recommendations and price trends.
Qualification & Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to lead, prioritize, collaborate, and execute complex projects.
- Experience in agricultural sectors is an advantage.
- Strong relationship management skills with suppliers, contractors, and bottlers.
- Knowledge of supplier capabilities and performance management.
- Ability to simplify complex issues into actionable solutions.
- Leadership courage, adaptability, and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices, logistics, and freight.
- Ability to interact with senior leaders of global suppliers.
- Self-motivated with strong task and project management skills.
