A boutique legal firm in Bryanston, Johannesburg is seeking a capable Legal Bookkeeper to oversee the finance function. The ideal candidate should possess significant bookkeeping experience, familiarity with trust accounts, and proficiency in legal software. This role is perfect for those seeking part-time hours while maintaining a professional work environment, offering a salary between R20,000 to R25,000 per month.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years full bookkeeping experience, 2 or more in legal.
- Professional, dependable with previous Trust Account experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage full payroll including EMP201, EMP501, IRP5 via EasyFile.
- Submit VAT (Bi-monthly) via eFiling.
- Handle trust account management and reconciliations.

You’ll be the go-to finance person in the firm — ideal for someone dependable and hands-on, looking for reduced hours in a professional setting.
Salary: R20 000 to R25 000 per month.
Requirements:
- Completed and relevant bookkeeping / accounting degree / certification
- 5 or more years full bookkeeping experience coupled with 2 or more years specific to the legal industry
- Previous Trust Account experience
- Professional, mature and dependable
- LegalSuite experience (or similar legal software)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full payroll including EMP201, EMP501, IRP5 via EasyFile
- VAT (Bi-monthly) submissions via eFiling
- COIDA/WCC returns, Department of Labour compliance
- Trust account management, transfers and reconciliations
- Fidelity Fund / LPC trust audit refund
- Business and investment account management
- Management accounts and partner splits
- Provisional tax calculations
- Creditor invoicing and reconciliations (incl. Advocates)
- Assisting with debtors and invoicing
- GoAML submissions (can be trained)
- Use of LegalSuite system daily
- Ad hoc finance/admin duties as required
