Function Nursing Facility Position Registered Nurse | ICU Qualified Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse ICU Qualified, based at Life Westville, reporting to the Unit Manager, Sarah Marx. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to critically ill patients to maximize positive outcomes in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

To provide quality patient care by

• Providing quality basic and specialized nursing care
• Maintaining continual communication with the patient and family regarding the patient's condition
• Administering medication in accordance with ethical and legal frameworks
• Reviewing and complying with internal policies and protocols
• Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to unit specifications

To provide effective people management by

• Interacting and communicating with a multidisciplinary team
• Providing training and development to ensure personal and professional growth
• Able to lead a nursing surgical team in a slate

To provide effective cost management by

• Managing all stock used according to unit-specific policies and protocols
• Controlling and managing staff hours and leave in accordance with company policy
• Providing cost-effective healthcare with knowledge of formulary stock items

To provide effective Infection Control and SHEQ by

• Maintaining a safe and holistic patient environment to enforce infection control
• Promoting a safe and healthy working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports to the SHEQ Coordinator

Ensuring effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders by

• Assisting multidisciplinary team members with their duties

Ensuring the effective functioning of equipment and instrumentation

• Checking equipment and instrumentation daily and reporting defaults to the Unit Manager and Clinical Engineer
• Educating and supervising staff and doctors on the correct utilization of specialized equipment and instrumentation

To ensure effective record keeping by

• Ensuring records are accurately completed and stored according to legal and ethical requirements

Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Post Basic Qualification in Critical Care Nursing Science
• Matric
• Nursing experience in ICU
• Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and role players would be advantageous
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment
• Strong customer orientation, team spirit, energy, and organization skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
