The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low‑ and middle‑income countries. CHAI was founded in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life‑saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus to HIV, COVID‑19, malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non‑communicable diseases. It works through horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems, including human resources for health, digital health, and health financing.
WJCF collaborates with the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) and the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) to support the elimination of malaria, lymphatic filariasis, visceral leishmaniasis, dengue, and other vector‑borne diseases through technical support units (TSU) and innovative surveillance and control strategies in India.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding public health credentials and demonstrated management abilities to lead the VBD team’s efforts across multiple grants and workstreams. The Program Director will lead the VBD TSU in Delhi and state teams in Maharashtra and Karnataka, providing overall technical oversight over the VBD portfolio and serving as the principal interface with donors, NCVBDC leadership, and program partners.
Lead the design, development, and execution of coherent multiyear strategies that streamline WJCF’s VBD programming and fundraising. Develop cross‑program collaborations and conceptual linkages under constrained resources, maintain an accountability culture, oversee program tracking and monitoring, and drive development and review of key program reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Lead development of key relationships with government, donor, and NGO partners. Facilitate engagement with key government program managers and division heads, build a comprehensive stakeholder matrix, and guide the team in navigating complex stakeholder relationships.
Regularly update stakeholders on program progress, challenges, and successes through detailed reports and presentations. Lead internal and external communication approaches aligned with WJCF’s policies.
Build team resilience, foster a collaborative environment, provide technical guidance, engage with direct reports on career development, monitor progress, give constructive feedback, and ensure effective staff performance.
Lead program budget planning, tracking, and reporting; oversee donor and WJCF reporting requirements; make evidence‑based resource allocation decisions and build collaborative working environments with finance liaisons.
Proactively manage program risk, ensure compliance with WJCF’s problem‑solving approach, lead critical thinking and risk assessment exercises, and build teams to handle difficult situations.
Develop subject matter knowledge, challenge program teams to showcase their work, and lead knowledge management and sharing of best practices at national and global convenings.
