Requirements
- MBChB or equivalent. FC Ophth (SA) and MMed (Ophth). Registration as a specialist Ophthalmology with the HPCSA. Research and teaching experience will be an added advantage.
Duties
- To render a support service to the Chief Specialist Ophthalmology, with respect to administrative duties, service provision, guidance and instruction of junior colleagues and ophthalmologists in training, training of medical students and other medical personnel in the provision of tertiary care within ophthalmology and the supervision of academic ophthalmology at all levels. -Effective Administration of Specialty Clinic within the Department. Effective and efficient provision of patient care at specialist and subspecialist level. Effective and mature guidance and instruction to junior colleagues and Ophthalmology registrars and fellows. Effectively and comprehensively training medical students and other medical personnel in the provision of tertiary care within Ophthalmology. Effective and mature encouragement of, guidance and participation in, academic activities for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the clinical department. To perform any other task as requested by the Head of the Ophthalmology Department UP and the Ophthalmology unit Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
