A leading technical service provider in Cape Town seeks an experienced technician to ensure reliable operation of control and instrumentation systems. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLCs, SCADA systems, and more. Candidates should have relevant electrical engineering qualifications and at least 3 years of technical experience. Offering a competitive contract with benefits like vehicle and cell allowances.
To render a professional technical service through installation, test and evaluation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshoot and repair of control and instrumentation systems / products. This includes ensuring that systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and various sensors and actuators function reliably and meet stringent safety and performance standards.
Grade 12; ND: Electrical Engineering (Electronics or Instrumentation); Btech: Electrical Engineering (Electronics or Instrumentation) – (Advantage); Professional Membership preferred; ECSA Candidate (Advantage). Required Experience: 3‑5 Years' experience as a technician, 3‑5 Years in wiring Control & Instrumentation panels, experience in product testing, test specifications and test procedures, interfacing equipment at signal level, electronic design, PLC Programming and SCADA Systems, radar, electronic warfare and communications systems (Advantage), maintenance and repairs of ships systems: electrical, electronic & control systems (Advantage). Required Knowledge: sound knowledge of product systems and test specifications in the field of Radio Frequency (RF) systems, use and operation of RF test equipment, working knowledge of data acquisition and processing and reduction, quality systems and calibration standards including international test standards, signal interface standards (e.g., RS‑422, NMEA, Asterix etc.) and data capture systems, internet protocols and networking standards (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, VPNs etc.), knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers in the appropriate field, basic knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
