Job Summary: The incumbent will be responsible to monitor and develop efficient production processes for the manufacturing function of the South African Bank Note Company (SABN) and eliminate waste where necessary by utilizing continuous improvement techniques/projects.

Main Responsibilities (not Limited to)
  • Develop operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives, assist in budget preparation, and monitor expenses, profitability, and losses.
  • Improve shop floor productivity, engagement and quality by implementing the Green Area Concept, and develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability.
  • Process technical knowledge and supply cooperative, proactive, and solutions focused project input within manufacturing.
  • Evaluate current production activities, identify problems, analyse root causes, derive resolutions and recommend improvements.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement projects and develop process improvements to effectively utilise equipment and materials to maximise production.
  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for manufacturing activities.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members to accomplish production goals.
  • Liaise with the Research and Development Department and other external organisations and suppliers to ensure company is at the forefront of groundbreaking research and technologies.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant legislation, company policies and procedures, and the risk management plan.
The Preferred Candidate Is Likely To Have
  • A bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering—or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • World Class Manufacturing, LEAN, and Theory of Constraints (TOC); project management experience is considered an additional advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in Production/Manufacturing.
  • Experience in the Printing Industry will be an added advantage.
Knowledge And Skills
  • World Class Manufacturing / Fundamentals of Theory of Constraints (TOC) and/or LEAN methodology / Continuous improvement principles and solutions
  • Process Improvement and optimisation
  • Process monitoring and Control (e.g. Statistical Process Control (SPC, Pareto,))
  • Problem Solving and Analysis (Ishikawa, RCA, PFMEA, Capability study)
  • Capability Studies and Loss Analysis
  • Working knowledge of production modelling software packages.
