Job description

JOB PURPOSE: The factory managers' responsibilities include scheduling building and equipment maintenance as needed, monitoring the performance of factory staff, and ensuring that all production orders are completed in a timely manner.

This position is responsible for enforcing compliance with health and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job related activities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Developing and implementing innovative strategies to streamline factory operations.
  2. Screening, recruiting, and training new factory workers.
  3. Collaborating with quality control managers to establish and execute quality control processes.
  4. Ensuring that factory machinery is in good working order.
  5. Analyzing production data to identify and resolve any production issues.
  6. Preparing production reports and submitting them to key decision-makers.
  7. Regularly inspecting finished products to determine whether they meet established quality standards.
  8. Motivating factory workers to continually achieve factory targets.
  9. Ensuring personal productivity and performance meets required standards.
  10. Planning, drawing up, and executing a production schedule.
  11. Determining and ordering the resources that are required and ensuring stock levels remain adequate.
  12. Monitoring productivity rates and product standards and implementing a quality control programme.
  13. Ensuring customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met.
  14. Working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
  15. Reviewing worker performance and identifying training needs.
  16. Performing root cause analysis and resolving problems.
  17. Ad hoc duties, as required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:

This position is based in an industrial factory with automated machinery.

For this position, must be medically fit and mobile.

REQUIREMENTS:

The requirements and qualifications for this position include:

  1. National Diploma / Degree in Engineering, preferred, or Qualified Millwright with certified trade test.
  2. Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a factory.
  3. Certification in production and inventory management as well as quality control, advantageous.
  4. Sound knowledge of industry-specific factory equipment.
  5. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  6. The ability to multitask.
  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong management and leadership skills.
  9. Ability to lead diverse teams, with experience in a unionised environment.
  10. Ability to be a team player.
  11. A pro-active person, with the ability to drive goals and targets.
  12. Be willing to work overtime when required.
  13. Honest and reliable.
  14. Ability to work under pressure and maintain personal control.
  15. Ability to apply common sense understanding to problem-solving.
