Job purpose :
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating engineering activities, overseeing design, technical requisitioning, and subcontracting for an entire facility or project segment, ensuring completion according to schedule, in line with Company’s QHSES policies, contractual commitments (design data, codes, classes, construction needs, schedule, and budget).
Reporting lines and interactions :
Hierarchically reports to : Operations Manager
Operationally reports to : Project Manager
Directly supervises (operationally) : Project Engineers, Lead Discipline Engineers.
Key interactions (internally, externally) :
Internally : Engineering and non-engineering disciplines, Group engineering centers
Externally : Clients, subcontractors, vendors, licensors, authorities, partners
Job scope and Accountabilities :
- Represents the company in technical discussions with clients, partners, subcontractors, vendors, and may contribute to business development by providing reports or suggestions to the Project Manager. Supports engineering and process / HSED disciplines in interactions with external stakeholders.
- Ensures technical project execution within time and budget constraints, adhering to strategy, QHSES requirements, contractual obligations, and ESG roadmap.
- Defines engineering coordination procedures, provides basic design data, and approves general project specifications. Ensures timely approval of engineering and requisitioning documents from clients, and manages change orders and claims efficiently.
- Participates in schedule development, monitors execution, and recommends corrective actions. Ensures timely reporting on engineering and requisitioning activities to the Project Manager and clients.
- Assists in managing material and manpower budgets, validates technical and economic solutions proposed by engineering disciplines, and arbitrates as necessary.
- Coordinates interfaces among disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, licensors, and partners. Ensures timely review and issuance of subcontracting documents (scope of work, price schedules, engineering document lists).
- Supports permitting processes with local authorities and promotes lessons learned sharing.
- Assesses applicable lessons learned for the project and manages the project close-out process for engineering management.
- Reviews interfaces between disciplines and stakeholders, handling technical, scheduling, and economic aspects of change orders.
Profile : Must have :
- Engineering degree
- Minimum 10 years of overall experience
- Experience as a project engineer or in engineering coordination roles
