Job Description:
• Identifies raw material/fasteners specifications required for ordering the material either from drawings or from the project specification or Customer supplied BOM list.
• Prepare material list for ordering by doing Material takeoff from drawings/ from customer supplier bill of materials/ Extraction from Tekla model.
• Ensures efficient and proper selection of optimized lengths of the materials to minimize the wastage factor.
• Identifies raw materials/ fasteners that require the release of a substitution alert to the
• Project management department and Customer.
• Allocates stock materials/ fasteners into the project prior to ordering (if matching materials/ fasteners are available in stock)
• Make Enquiries of required materials/fasteners availability with other divisions and initiates
• Sale note on availability.
• Prepares the Purchase Requisitions for the materials/ fasteners to be ordered.
• Expediting the Purchase order to ensure timely delivery to SSD warehouse/Central yard.
• Prepares Material Ordering Confirmation Report (MOCR) showing the phasewise materials to be ordered for the project based on the drawings/material list/Tekla model received.
• Prepares the Substitution Alert for Customer Approval.
• Prepares and updates the weekly Material Tracking Report which shows the materials allocated from stock, ordered and the percentage of materials to be received at different dates throughout the life span of a project.
• Releases on time the material allocation summaries after the release of the final Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Allocates Fasteners phasewise based on the Engineering buyout bill of materials release.
• Submission of Contract Variation Alert ( CVA) to Project management department.
• Attends to customer revisions by identifying the changes in the Customer revised drawings received/Tekla model/ Customer Bill of materials list.
• Submits Contract variation Alert form (CVA) to Project management department showing the additional materials to be ordered and records the excess materials.
• Orders the additional materials upon Project management /Customer approval.
• Be aware and follow the Company Policies and Procedures on Safety and Health at all times.
• Wear Protective Preventive Equipment (PPE) in the work area as necessary.
• Keep his assigned work area clean and in order at all times.
• Report any signs of unsafe working conditions to the supervisor/manager immediately.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience as Material Planning Engineer or any material management functions.
• Should possess and experience in Steel Fabrication Industry /Manufacturing sector
• Must be a graduate of Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in the use of MS office applications. Familiarity with Oracle-based ERP, an advantage
