Job summary
A shipbuilding company in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to oversee planning and scheduling for offshore CRPO and Jacket projects. The successful candidate will ensure project execution by managing schedules and budgets, liaising with various teams, and preparing performance reports. This role requires a Bachelor's Engineering Degree, a minimum of 9-12 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in project planning software. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are essential.

- Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
The Senior Planning Engineer oversees the planning and scheduling activities for new build offshore CRPO and Jacket projects at IMI Shipyard. The job is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of projects by developing, managing, and monitoring detailed project schedules, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare, review, and update the Project Schedule/s from bidding stage until close-out stage.
- Prepare regular Project performance reports and produce measures to support schedule progress.
- Liaise with the Project Management Team on all relevant planning issues.
- Prepare weekly / monthly Subcontract’s accruals for Labor, Materials, and Equipment.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project budget, actual and forecast reports.
- Prepare, review and update project earned value, cashflow and variance analysis reports.
- Report any deviation/s recognized on the project schedule or budget and prepare recovery plan/s.
- Actively support the assigned project/s to ensure successful delivery against set business objectives.
- Represent planning team at Integrated Work Team Meetings.
- Initiate and maintain close liaison with all members of IMI Operations, Production and Client Rep.
- Prepare Look Ahead reports based on the latest progress update and lead look ahead meetings.
- Prepare and review the weekly and monthly reports for Internal and Clients.
- Train Planning Engineer/s for succession planning.
- Carry out schedule risk analysis as and when required. Maintain Risk Register.
- Batchelor’s Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
- PMP Certificate preferable (but not essential).
- Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) Certificate preferable.
- Proficiency in project planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Strong knowledge of planning, scheduling, and control processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Minimum 9 - 12 years of experience in project planning within a shipyard.
- Proven track record of planning and executing CRPO and Offshore Jacket projects.
- Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
- Arabic is not essential but could be advantageous
