Job summary
A reputable global recruitment consultancy is seeking a Legal Counsel for a hybrid role based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of experience in contract review and regulatory matters. Responsibilities include reviewing and drafting contracts, providing legal advice, and ensuring compliance. The position is open only to Malaysian citizens.

- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts across SEA in a timely manner.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders and clients on contract-related matters.
- Provide legal advice on contracts, disputes, and other business issues.
- Review and advise on other legal or commercial documents (e.g., leases, employment contracts, demand letters).
- Develop and implement contract management processes.
- Support compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and industry regulations in SEA and Greater China.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on new regulations affecting business operations.
- Prepare and maintain legal documentation and a regulatory reference library.
- Assist with licensing and registration processes across the region.
- Liaise with external legal advisers when required and handle other ad hoc legal matters.
- Qualified lawyer in Malaysia.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in contract review and regulatory matters (data privacy experience preferred).
- Able to review Mandarin or bilingual contracts.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Flexible and proactive in handling diverse legal, compliance, and regulatory tasks.
