Summary:

The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for supporting and enabling sales on VIAVI Optical Transport portfolio in EMEA driving the EMEA Sales plan. The exciting position will work closely with the Lab & Production Sales team and with selected Channel Partners and will take responsibility for any technical demonstrations and presentations in front of customers or in joining selected partner/VIAVI events (technical seminars, webinars, roadshows and tradeshows). This individual will have to transfer product and related technology knowledge to the dedicated Sales Team and to the Channel Partners. In conjunction with Sales, this person will be accountable for the bookings number of the related product portfolio in the whole EMEA region.

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for the introduction, implementation and follow-up of the Optical Transport portfolio in all EMEA and is expected to be proactive in case of deviation. The Solutions Engineer is expected to drive issues to successful resolution within the wider “EMEA Solutions Engineer Team”, directly with Sales and with the Optical Transport Business Unit.

This role is either based at our headquarters in Eningen, or in a home office in EMEA with regular travel to Eningen.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Deliver technical and application support to our customers across EMEA for our high-speed transport portfolio (hands-on on product).
2. A strong understanding for high-speed transport protocols like Ethernet, OTN, FlexO at 100G to 800G and beyond and how they are applied across the ecosystem, from ICs through modules to switching and DWDM systems.
3. Deliver product and technology presentations at targeted local roadshows/technical seminars/webinars.
4. Self-motivated in penetrating opportunities and accounts for sales enablement.
5. Deliver awareness of test and reporting methods and procedures to our customer base.
6. Liaise with customers on instrument trials or method and procedure implementation.
7. Help discover ecosystem trends and activities as well as optimize product positioning to capture sales.
8. Provide feedback to the Business Unit (Product Line Managers/R&D) in order to increase innovation.
9. Share experiences and best practices across the EMEA Solutions Engineer team members.
10. Transfer basics of product and technologies knowledge to Sales/Channel Partners during specific and regular training sessions.
11. Actively participate in the monthly EMEA Solutions Engineer virtual meetings: feedback on deals, technical inputs, local market needs, challenges, successes, recovery plans, etc.
12. Measurement of progress, gaps and recovery actions when needed.
13. As part of the technical pre-sales team, the Solutions Engineer is accountable for driving sales growth in the region for the Optical Transport T&M portfolio.
14. Travel required: around 50% - all over EMEA but mainly in Israel, Germany, Italy and France.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

1. Telecom Science & Electronics Engineer diploma with the Telecom expertise.
2. Strong Understanding of Ethernet (100G, 400G, 800G) and Optical Transport technologies: OTN, xWDM, and FlexE/FlexO.
3. Understand NEMs' (Network Equipment Manufacturers) challenges for lab testing and for production area on the Transmission and Optical Transport areas.
4. Proven practical experience in using/pre-sales technical support with major vendors and T&M equipment vendors.
5. Fluent English. German an advantage.
