Job summary

Tooling Manager (Up to 12K / Plastic Molding / Ipoh)

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of injection moulds and tooling.

Manage plastic and metal machining operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Prepare cost estimations for tooling and machined parts to support budgeting and profitability.

Oversee tooling vendors to ensure on-time delivery and quality compliance.

Drive process improvements to reduce lead times and enhance tooling performance.

Troubleshoot tooling issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Manage tooling projects from planning to execution, including trial runs and coordination.

Handle tool room budgeting and prepare CAPEX proposals with cost-saving measures.

Maintain accurate technical documentation for tooling designs, changes, and milestones.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for tooling and equipment.

Lead, train, and mentor tooling team members; promote safety and skill development.

Work closely with production, engineering, and QA teams to meet project goals.

Job Requirement

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, Manufacturing, or equivalent.

8–10 years of hands-on experience in tooling, preferably in plastic injection moulding.

Strong background in metal and plastic machining processes.

Proven experience in tool room management and vendor coordination.

Skilled in mould troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Experience in preparing tooling cost estimations and managing budgets.

Proficient in CAD software and tooling simulation tools.

Prior leadership or managerial experience in tooling or manufacturing is essential.
