Testing Engineer - Power and Control Electronics

The Test Engineer – Production Test Systems works closely with cross‑functional teams across manufacturing, quality, and engineering to deliver robust, high‑quality electronics production for global markets. Your primary responsibility will be the maintenance and support of existing test systems, along with creating an upgrade path for testing infrastructure.

Qualifications include a minimum diploma in engineering or a related technical field.

Based at our contract manufacturing site in Penang, you will support products manufactured in Malaysia and China and shipped to customers in Australia, the USA, and Europe. You will work hands‑on with production test systems, fixtures, and automated test software to improve reliability, yield, and efficiency.

Candidates must have valid Malaysian work authorisation, as the company does not sponsor work permits.

Travel to China may be required to support testers at the China facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve production test systems used in volume electronics manufacturing.
• Have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in production test systems or electronics manufacturing.
• Specific experience with automated test equipment is required.
• Work closely with manufacturing engineers and operators to support daily production needs.
• Improve test coverage and tester reliability based on product requirements and failure analysis.
• Troubleshoot complex issues at fixture, PCB, and system level on the factory floor.
• Design, build, and upgrade production test fixtures and jigs.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Linux and Python‑based environments.
• Advanced Python programming experience is required for automated test script development.
• Have a minimum of 1–2 years of Python programming experience.
• Have intermediate level Linux system experience for test environment management.
• Scripting and automation capabilities in Linux environments are essential for test system management.
• Support new product introduction, line bring‑up, and production ramp activities.
• Provide Design for Testability feedback to product design teams.
• Work alongside BMPRO's Supplier Quality Engineer based at the Penang site.
• Liaise with BMPRO engineering and service teams in Australia and manufacturing teams in China.
• Recommend and implement test and process improvements to support long‑term product quality.
