Job summary

A leading chemical manufacturer is seeking a qualified individual to manage sample requests, conduct laboratory testing, and maintain safety protocols. The ideal candidate should have a diploma in Chemistry or equivalent and at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, and proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. This role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while managing laboratory tasks effectively.

Qualifications

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Receive and record all sample requests from sale / customers / distributors / other Arkema plants.
  • Pack the samples as per item and quantity requested into boxes.
  • Prepare necessary documents to send out the samples.
  • Manage and ensure sufficient sample stock and packaging materials; raise stock replenish request to production.
  • Collect and arrange replenish sample from production site to the sample store with proper label for each grade of sample.
  • Carry out resin testing and paint testing work assigned under the guidance of lab officer and application chemist. Generate test reports related to coating applications.
  • In-charge basic resin testing in physical data development such as compatibility test, drying time testing, etc.
  • Prepare spray panels required for testing or promotion tools.
  • Carry out QUV test, natural exposure test for all projects that require such test.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of coatings application lab and good upkeep of test equipment. Provide constructive suggestions for continuous improvement on efficiency and safety of own workplace.
  • To upkeep and maintain documentation related to coating applications, e.g. test reports, sample request forms.
  • Carry out waste disposal of paints and its raw materials in accordance to Waste Disposal Procedures and ensure all technical service/application activities are in compliance with the company’s HSEQ policy and procedure.
  • Take reasonable care for health and safety of himself and of other persons, to cooperate with superior, to wear or use personal protective equipment provided as appropriate and to comply health and safety instructions as stipulated under Section 24 OSHA 1994 and undertake the following loss control responsibilities;
  • Identify the potential hazards, gains and the possible improvement.
  • Report the HSEQ near-misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to superior or HSE personnel.
  • Report the HSEQ incident, accidents to superior or HSE personnel.
  • Compliant with the policies, legal regulations, Arkema requirements, rules and procedures of one's sector applying to HSEQ.
Required Profile
  • Diploma / Certificate in Chemistry or STPM or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity, or SPM level with at least 4 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity.
  • Fairly good in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, etc.
