Job summary

A global product company in Malaysia seeks a Technical Project Specialist to lead product development projects. This role involves managing schedules, costs, and performance while providing technical oversight to design teams. Candidates should have over 15 years of engineering experience, preferably in kitchen tools, along with strong leadership and communication skills. Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen tools (OXO product line) is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of commonly used plastics, metal materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes.

This position is responsible to lead APO team for any new product development projects plus resolving engineering and manufacturing issues to ensure the development can meet the quality requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the whole project, including schedule/cost and performance;
  • Support the creation of mechanical architecture for new products and related accessories;
  • Provide technical oversight to product design team to inspire innovation and drive data-based engineering decisions.
  • Provide technical data to Product Definition and Industrial Design team for tradeoff analysis during early development.
  • Validate initial designs via analysis, prototyping and testing to increase efficiency of our development process.
  • Work with Quality Assurance and Test Engineering to define and implement validation testing plans and ensure products meet reliability requirements.
  • Interface with Program management to ensure that cost, schedule and performance targets are achieved.
  • Act as the primary PD interface cross-functional teams (i.e. ID, Product Definition, QA, Operations, EE, RF/Antenna, suppliers and partners, etc.)
  • Ensure successful development of mechanical tooling and production part qualification (i.e. first-article inspections, manufacturing process capabilities, material certifications, etc.)
  • Collaborate with operations and quality teams to audit mechanical suppliers and external partners.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve processes and increase business efficiency.
  • Have good knowledge for home appliance or medical device safety/regulatory requirement.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, Master degree is preferred;
Experience and Skills
  • Min 15 years working experience in Engineering or project development in manufacturing industry
  • Working experience in Kitchen tools (OXO product line) is preferable
  • Min 8 years working experience in the company with 3rd party vendors
  • Working experience in both company and factory is preferable
  • Good knowledge with characteristics of commonly used plastics, metal materials, tooling, manufacturing processes
  • Hands on experience on big projects transfer, to South East Asia is preferable
  • Hands-on experience on product reviewing and validation,
  • Good analytical skills and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and alignment with BU/facture for tech communication, trouble shooting
  • Good leadership skills, can lead factory/APO team to move forward
  • Familiar with CAD software, Creo or Solid works
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese;
  • Willing for business trip in SEA countries.
