Senior Solutions & Technical Lead (Renewable Energy & General)

To lead the structuring, renewal management, and placement of customised insurance solutions, with strong technical command over policy wordings, endorsements, and claims interpretation. The role is accountable for closing renewals, supporting new business, leading the team, and delivering technically sound, commercially viable insurance solutions, particularly within the renewable energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Renewal Management & Business Closure
    • Manage end-to-end renewal cycles, including:
    • Early engagement with clients
    • Risk review and loss experience analysis
    • Renewal strategy and remarketing where required
    • Drive timely renewal closure, ensuring continuity of coverage and minimising lapses.
    • Identify upsell, cross-sell, and coverage enhancement opportunities during renewal.
    • Support negotiation of terms, pricing, deductibles, and endorsements with insurers.
    • Ensure renewals are aligned with client risk evolution, contractual requirements, and insurer appetite.
  2. Technical Insurance & Policy Expertise
    • Demonstrate strong understanding of general insurance business fundamentals and underwriting logic.
    • Possess working knowledge across all major lines of business, including:
      • Property & All Risks
      • Liability (PL, EL, PI, Product Liability)
      • Marine / Transit
      • Employee Benefits
    • Conduct detailed review of policy wordings, exclusions, warranties, conditions, and endorsements to ensure adequacy and clarity.
    • Identify coverage gaps, ambiguous clauses, and risk transfer limitations.
  3. Employee Benefits Knowledge
    • Demonstrate understanding of Employee Benefits insurance, including:
      • Group Medical
      • Group Term Life / Takaful
      • Workmen’s Compensation & Employer’s Liability
    • Advise on plan design, benefits structure, limits, sub-limits, and cost control measures.
    • Support benefit comparisons, renewal negotiations, and presentation of EB proposals to clients.
    • Coordinate EB placements in alignment with client HR, payroll, and financial considerations.
    • Possess solid understanding of insurance claims processes across general insurance and employee benefits.
    • Advise clients on policy response and coverage interpretation, deductibles, limits, and recovery mechanics.
    • Work with insurers, loss adjusters, and clients to facilitate fair and efficient claims handling.
    • Use claims experience and loss trends to justify coverage structure changes.
  4. Solution Structuring & Market Sourcing
    • Structure bespoke insurance solutions tailored to client risk profiles, projects, and operational realities.
    • Be resourceful in sourcing alternative solutions, including:
      • Different insurers and markets
      • Alternative policy structures
      • Endorsement-based enhancements
      • Layered or portfolio approaches
    • Apply strong market knowledge to overcome placement challenges.
  5. Renewable Energy Specialisation
    • Understand the solar PV and BESS industry, including:
      • Project development, construction, and operational phases
      • Technical, operational, and financial risks
  6. Commercial, Presentation & Systems Capability
    • Prepare and present:
      • Quotations
      • Renewal proposals
      • Product and solution presentations
    • Support business closing through clear articulation of value, coverage differentiation, and risk rationale.
    • Demonstrate strong command of:
      • Excel – premium analysis, comparison, renewal tracking
      • Word & PowerPoint – professional documentation and client presentations
      • General accounting principles
      • Financial awareness to renewal negotiations and solution optimisation
    • Lead and guide team members in:
      • Technical insurance knowledge
      • Claims awareness and client advisory
      • Set technical standards and ensure consistency in outputs.
      • Act as escalation point for complex renewals, claims, and placements.
    • Highly meticulous, especially in wording and renewal reviews
