We are currently looking for talented individuals to join us for the following role:

Senior Quality Engineer (Welding)

Senior Welding Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of welding activities in corporate and/or projects. His / Her primary roles and responsibilities include developing standards and processes, and providing technical support to engineering, procurement, construction, and operation teams.

We are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and review company and affiliated entities project standards and process documents.
  • Review, verify, and approve Quality Assurance Procedures submitted by yards and suppliers.
Applicable codes and standards
  • Provide welding engineering support to engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, customer and classification society rules and requirements.
  • Provide technical support and interpretation of industry standards and specifications such as ASME, AWS, API, ISO, NORSOK, NACE, etc.
Coordination
  • Liaise with Project EPCI Team, Classification Society, and Client representative as required.
  • Coordinate with Project Management Team (PMT) and Client during Bidding / Feed phase.
Audits and Assessments

Conduct project audits, raise and report NCR (Non‑conformance Report)/Observations if any concerns arise during audits and assessments, and assist in resolving findings as required.

Technical Query / Deviation Request

Review Technical Queries (TQ)/Design Devises (DDN) submitted by yards/suppliers.

Welding Procedure Qualifications
  • Prepare, review, and approve welding procedure qualification documents for projects.
  • Provide technical advice on material and welding consumable selection and procedure qualification to project team members.
Implementation / Develop New / Latest Techniques
  • Capable of managing or developing solutions to non‑recurring problems by analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating data and precedents.
  • Provide assistance to suppliers and subcontractors to develop new welding processes/procedures to suit project needs.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Problem‑Solving Skills
  • Coordinate, involve, and prepare in root cause analyses on welding‑related issues as required.
  • Manage or develop solutions to non‑recurring problems with assistance from project QA manager, package engineer, site manager, and supervisors.
KPIs

Develop and report welding rejection metrics and associated KPIs.

Implementation of Lessons Learned

Based on past project lessons, make necessary changes in MODEC Corporate/Project Specifications.

Training & Development

Conduct training for welding to project team.

Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or any relevant Engineering discipline (degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas area or FPSO lines or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, classification.
  • Relevant working experience in oil and gas sector in a similar position.
Competencies
  • International welding engineer certification / Certified welding engineer.
  • Laboratory testing knowledge for welding procedure qualifications.
  • ISO 9001 certification.
