Job description

HSS Engineering is looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team, lead exciting projects, and collaborate with a leading consulting engineering firm to make a tangible impact.

Main Responsibilities
  • To liaise and be the focal point to clients, lead and support M&E team to ensure client interests are effectively met.
  • Liaise with project team members either internal or external.
  • Represent the company at meetings with the best interest of the client and company always being protected. Attend tender proposal and RFI briefings.
  • Ensure all the documentation for client/ authority submission is sufficient, accurate, and complete.
  • Ensure all the design complies with relevant standards, authorities, client requirements, and QESH procedures.
  • To prepare and update technical specifications and bill of quantities (B.O.Q /S.O.W) as well as provide reports as required advising clients on the project status/updates. To act as the technical leader and project manager for the coordination and lead of projects undertaken.
  • Undertake mechanical design consultancy works for the following: ACMV, Fire Protection, Vertical Transportation System, Plumbing System (Cold Water, Hot Water, Sewerage & Plumbing System), Gas System, Building Supervisory System. And other related mechanical services as required.
  • Able to manage several simultaneous projects as assigned.
  • Preparation and/or development of client brief or client’s brief for approval.
  • Prepare the pre and post-tender programs.
  • Carry out a survey of existing facilities/utilities and prepare necessary reports.
  • Prepare sketch drawings in sufficient detail for the draughtsperson to produce satisfactory detail drawings as required for tender, construction, or other purpose.
  • Technically vet tenders and provide recommendations to management for approval.
  • Ensure contractors carry out work with good engineering practice and according to contract documentation.
  • Contractor claims evaluation, verifications, and certifications.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, and presentation material and carry out presentations to clients.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.
  • Guide young Engineers with their technical capability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 5 years of working experience in an engineering consultant environment.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM).
  • Liaison person between clients, authorities, suppliers, co-consultants, and team members.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience in the field of construction and building-related and building services projects is essential.
  • Proven track record handling semi‑government/ government projects.
  • Knowledgeable in the tender preparation process.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet timelines.
  • Able to lead a team of engineers and other staff undertaking small to medium‑size multidisciplinary projects with minimal guidance.
