Position Overview

This is a lead role in the accounting team in the APAC region, including management of a team of accountants supporting the monthly close, statutory financial statements and related activities.

The Senior Manager, Accounting APAC (further ‘Senior Manager’) will report to the Director, Accounting APAC and will assist in managing the accounting and financial operations in the region, currently covering Malaysia, Singapore, China and Australia.

This role is a hands‑on role and requires a thorough understanding of accounting / financial procedures, processes and systems, along with local compliance requirements such as statutory and tax compliance and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) 404. This includes implementing and continually improving procedures, processes and systems to meet operational initiatives and comply with group and local compliance requirements.

The Senior Manager, Accounting APAC should provide a thorough understanding of ERP systems (SAP) and the skillset necessary to analyze and direct accounting business processes and integration throughout the APAC region.

Responsibilities
Establish the Function

Manage and mentor a team of accountants with a particular focus on knowledge sharing and career development.

In close cooperation with the respective team members, manage the monthly closing process, account reconciliations and balance sheet review process, and analyze local and regional financial results.

Maintain quality and timeliness of internal control requirements associated with general ledger reporting within team.

Maintenance and support of operational procedures associated with new business initiatives and support various ongoing projects throughout the year.

Design and document internal control procedures around all key activities in the APAC region, including inventory management and movements, plan to produce, requisition to pay, intercompany, etc working closely with the local Finance team.

Continuing Operations

Support all aspects of financial reporting, including US GAAP and statutory reporting for the APAC legal entities.

Support in driving improvement in processes, systems (i.e., SAP) and controls with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness; ensure a strong Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliant control environment.

Support the region’s general ledger accounting activities and work closely with the third‑party service providers for accounting activities.

Support the local audit processes and seek to implement streamlined processes to ensure audit efficiencies and compliance with all applicable standards.

Support further international expansion in the region.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in Finance & Accounting.

CPA, ACCA or similar certification preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in fast‑growing multinational environment and/or SEC registered entities (public company).

Strong experience working in ERP and systems accounting integration (SAP preferred).

Strong technical accounting background (US GAAP and IFRS). Knowledge of other local statutory accounting principles is a plus.

Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization.

Team leader and team player, with strong management skills.

Deadline driven with the ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.

Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.

Expert knowledge of MS office programs, in particular MS Excel.
