Job summary

A property development firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks a skilled lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE. Your role encompasses managing legal matters related to strata management, drafting various commercial agreements, and ensuring compliance with regulations such as PDPA. The ideal candidate will provide legal support for tenancy issues and conduct regulatory research as required. A strong ability to handle tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum PQE of 5 years in legal practice.
  • Qualified lawyer with experience in both legal practice and in-house will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of legal issues in property development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve legal issues regarding strata management and complaints.
  • Draft and review commercial agreements and related legal documents.
  • Assist with tenancy and leasing matters.
  • Monitor compliance with laws and regulations, especially PDPA and Anti-Bribery.

Job description

1. To manage, advise and resolve issues or disputes in relation to complaints/strata management, including perusal of letter of demand and cause papers and preparing the necessary documentation.

2. To review, draft and advise a wide range of commercial agreements, contracts, letters and other related legal documents.

3. To assist with tenancy and leasing matters including preparing tenancy agreement and letter offer.

4. To actively monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations with a particular focus on PDPA and Anti-Bribery and Corruption requirements.

5. To conduct research as and when required and to support and advise the group on latest regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.

6. To provide general legal support addressing and resolving legal issues as they arise.

7. To coordinate and schedule meetings with internal departments and/or external parties for meetings when required.

8. To prepare monthly report summarizing key and significant legal matters.

9. To perform any ad-hoc tasks as and when required.

Minimum PQE 5 years.

Bachelor's Degree in Law (or equivalent)

Qualified lawyer with minimum of 5 years of experience gained from both legal practice and in-house experience will be an added advantage.

Experience and knowledge on legal issues related to the property development sector will be an added advantage.

4. Able to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities and handle urgent matters efficiently.
