THE OPPORTUNITY

The primary function for this role provides the efficient processing of accounts payable and receivable, delivers accurate financial reporting and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (internal and external) aiming to uphold the financial integrity of the organization while driving continuous improvement in accounting practices.

The position offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to grow into broader finance functions. The role is ideal for someone seeking to strengthen their core accounting skills while progressively willing to take on responsibilities for a full set of accounts.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE IN THIS ROLE

  • Perform Accounts Payable function including handling vendor queries, verification and processing payments to suppliers and staff reimbursements.
  • Perform Accounts Receivables function to ensure customer records, invoicing and collections, accounting, reconciliation and reporting are maintained properly.
  • Handle e-Invoice, prepare and submit timely Service Tax/Australian GST, and ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Perform data entry into the accounting system including the Fixed Assets module and to maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Maintain cash books and petty cash, prepare monthly bank reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Assist senior team members with accounting tasks, documentation and financial reporting, as needed.
  • Liaise with clients, vendor, bankers, auditors and tax agents, as necessary.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Assist with internal and external audits, as needed.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERTISE

  • Minimum requirement is a diploma holder or partly qualified in accounting professional examination with at least 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good understanding of Malaysian financial reporting standards and tax regulations with k nowledge of general ledger, journal entries, month-end closing and financial reporting.
  • Experience in handling invoicing, collections, payment processing, reconciliations and vendor/customer account management.
  • Strong proficiency in using accounting software, principally in AR and AP modules in an accounting system such as Oracle, Netsuite or any ERP software and Excel.

ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

  • Exhibit good organizational skills and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with p recision as required to manage AR/AP and prepare financial data.
  • Proficient with oral and written communication in English is essential. Ability to speak and read Bahasa Malaysia and other languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with strong interpersonal skills and competence to coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders in a professional and clear manner.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
