Job description

Undertake strategic development and implementation of Jabatan Ekonomi’s macro-frame forecasting framework by applying advanced macroeconomic and quantitative expertise to enhance forecast accuracy, ensure coherence across sectoral and aggregate perspectives, and support policy formulation aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives.

  • Develop and implement a macro-frame forecasting framework that integrates sectoral and aggregate perspectives, ensuring consistency with macroeconomic narratives.
  • Support the development and refinement of macro-frame forecasting models and bottom-up tools, ensuring consistency with sectoral forecasts and macroeconomic narratives.
  • Lead scenario analysis and simulations to assess the impact of external and domestic shocks on macroeconomic outlook.
  • Provide technical guidance on econometric forecasting and structured evaluation of forecast performance to strengthen analytical rigor.
  • Conduct workshops and training to build internal modelling capacity and promote best practices in macroeconomic analysis.
  • Prepare communication materials (working papers, reports, presentations) to articulate findings, support policy decisions and build thought leaderships for JEK and BNM.
  • Perform administrative tasks, where necessary, to ensure smooth operations and business continuity.
Academic Qualifications
  • First Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or related field. Master’s or PhD in Economics/Econometrics is highly desirable.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, or policy research. Proven experience in developing econometric models and leading capacity‑building initiatives.
