Senior Analyst/Analyst, Advanced Data Science (Leading Islamic Bank in Malaysia)

Own the enterprise data, analytics and AI agenda for a leading Islamic bank—turning trusted, Shariah‑aligned data into real business value at scale.

Senior Analyst/Analyst of Advanced Data Scientist will play a role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive decision-making and innovation across the organisation. He or She will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, statistical modelling and visualization to drive data‑informed decision across risks, customer experience and financial performance.

What you’ll do

Collaboration with Business and IT teams to identify business challenges/use cases that can be resolved utilising on advanced analytics.

Identify challenges that are potential business cases that can be resolved via data driven solution.

Design and propose the advanced data science/analytics solutions and deliverables based on the established success criteria as well as define key metrics for the solution’s success.

Data preparation and exploratory data analysis.

Pre‑process and transform the data to ensure that it is in the optimal format, layout, or shape for the project purposes.

Conduct exploratory data analysis to establish variable distributions and inter‑variable relationships.

Conduct missing data analysis and imputation utilising relevant techniques and establish whether data enrichment is necessary for achieving the project objectives.

Delivery of advanced analytics to assist organisations make informed decisions.

Design and develop a data science/analytical model utilising on statistical methods and best‑practice advanced modelling techniques based on knowledge of the data and the technique’s constraints, assumptions, interpretability, robustness, and application.

Integrate the model into the business system taking into consideration the existing infrastructure, architecture, technologies, and the organisational context.

Ensure that the deployed solutions are sustainable and maintained over time.

Plan the execution of User Acceptance Test (UAT) and System integration testing (SIT).

Involve actively in UAT and SIT process and give feedback/recommendation if needed.

Complete the UAT and SIT according to project timeline.

Present insights to stakeholders utilising on data storytelling/data visualisation.

Translate analytics results into actionable insights, identifying trends and implications for the organisation from complex datasets.

Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders through compelling data storytelling and visual representation techniques.

What success looks like (12–18 months)

Comprehensive plan that outlines the problem statements, business requirements and the proposed solution.

Initial data investigation and exploratory data analysis report.

Development and deployment of data product/solution.

Data product/visualisation to represent the analytics results and actionable insights.

What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/ data science/ information technology/ Statistics or related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience.

Proficiency and strong in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL etc.

Experience with data manipulation tools such as SQL, Pandas etc.

Solid understanding and experience with machine learning algorithms, statistical modelling and testing.

Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy etc.
