Job summary

A reputable accounting firm in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, is seeking an Accounts Executive to manage a full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable, Receivable, and General Ledger. The role demands at least 3–5 years of experience in the construction or property development industry, alongside strong project accounting skills. Proficiency in accounting software such as SQL and UBS, along with solid analytical skills, is essential. This position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in the construction or property development industry.
  • MIA membership or qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently.

Handle full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and bank reconciliations.

Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and cash flow analyses for management review.

Monitor and analyze project costings, budget utilization, progress claims, and variations.

Review supplier invoices, subcontractor claims, and payment certifications for accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate with project teams on site-related expenditures and petty cash reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, SST submissions, and audit requirements.

Assist in year-end audits, preparing relevant schedules and liaising with auditors and tax agents.

Support management in budget planning, cost forecasting, and variance analysis.

Supervise and guide junior accounting staff in daily accounting tasks.

Perform ad hoc assignments and financial analysis as required.

What we're looking for

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in the construction or property development industry.

Strong knowledge of project accounting, progress billing, and retention sums.

Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SQL, UBS, MHW Accounting, IFCA or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.

MIA (Malaysian Institute of Accountants) membership or qualification will be an added advantage.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
