We are seeking to appoint a Biology teacher who is capable of teaching Biology at KS3, IGCSE and A Level (or equivalent) aged 11 – 18 years old from August 2026.

Qualifications
  • Applicants for the position should: Have knowledge, experience and a passion for teaching Biology at KS3, IGCSE and A Level (or equivalent).
  • Have knowledge and experience of teaching Science using the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum for England (or equivalent).
  • The ability to teach other sciences up to IGCSE level is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
  • Main Responsibilities: Support the work of the Science Department to ensure the highest possible levels of achievement.
  • Plan lessons in accordance with schemes of work.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of policies, syllabuses and schemes of work.
  • Uphold high standards of preparation, teaching and discipline.
  • Use technology effectively and confidently within the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to departmental activity beyond the curriculum.
  • Establish high and appropriate expectations for learning, motivation and presentation of work.
  • Set and mark homework in accordance with school policy.
  • Provide constructive oral and written feedback to students with clear targets.
  • Keep parents informed of student progress, including at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
  • Liaise with the Learning Support Team regarding individual students who may have exceptional needs, ensuring appropriate support is planned and implemented.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings of a professional nature as required.
  • Contribute to strengthening the parent–teacher partnership through individual and whole-school initiatives.
  • Be prepared to take on a pastoral role in the school as a Form Tutor and fulfil the responsibilities of that position.
  • Develop cross-curricular links and provide opportunities for students to apply their scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Make a positive contribution to the development of the School.
  • Actively support the ethos of the school.
  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to stay up to date with subject knowledge, teaching strategies and examination requirements.
  • Analyse student progress data to inform teaching and learning and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor student wellbeing and liaise with the pastoral team where appropriate.
