Job Description
Key responsibilities and scope of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Month-end account closing for regional entities, covering tasks such as journal preparation and processing (accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed asset depreciation, tax computations), cash management, revaluation, intercompany billing, and confirmations.
- Post-close review and report preparation, including reconciling Balance Sheet accounts in the Blackline system; month/quarter reporting (COGNOS reports, MR packs, 10K reports), bank reconciliations, and any other reports required by the company.
- Preparation and submission of monthly/quarterly VAT/WHT reports to the relevant authorities, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Coordination with sub-ledger departments (AP, AR, FA, Treasury, Inventory, etc.) to ensure smooth processing of operational functions for each entity.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regional requirements related to accounting, taxation, audits, and secretarial matters, including collaborating with external providers for the timely preparation and submission of annual statutory audited accounts, income tax reports, annual returns, and AGM-related activities.
- Supporting the immediate supervisor in process improvements and assisting with finance projects/initiatives, including communication with various stakeholders.
- Participating in SOX-related activities, ensuring full understanding and fulfillment of SOX requirements.
- Undertaking special projects and tasks as needed.
The Successful Applicant
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in finance/accounting, with at least 2-3 years of exposure to full set accounting in moderately sized companies.
- Experience and knowledge of regional finance operations would be an advantage.
- Audit experience with a Big 4 firm is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ERP systems (knowledge of Oracle/COGNOS is an advantage).
- Strong skills in financial analysis, accounting, and both written and verbal communication.
- A degree in accounting or a related financial qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
- ACCA finalists or those with equivalent professional exam qualifications will also be considered, provided they have strong skills and relevant work experience.
