What role you will play in our team

Join ExxonMobil's Technology and Engineering Company as a raw materials characterization engineer. Become part of a global, interdisciplinary team to monitor, trigger, and update world‑leading crude assays for stakeholders across the downstream value chain. In this role, you will hone skills in crude assay technologies, statistics, crude composition, and an understanding of the business value of analytical measurements. Through partnerships with stakeholders, you will contribute to R&D initiatives and develop next‑generation solution techniques focused on value generation. The company places high emphasis on engineering skills and the ability to combine technical skills with business understanding to improve profitability. Training courses in technical and personnel development areas, coupled with exposure to the fast‑paced, hands‑on environment provide an excellent platform to develop a successful career.

What you will do
  • Steward ExxonMobil's crude assay database, monitor crude assay qualities, trigger assay updates
  • Manage assay updates through world‑leading analytical protocols and push updated assays to downstream stakeholders
  • Leverage analytical and crude understanding to contribute to R&D initiatives for downstream stakeholders
  • Coordinate internal and external analytical labs to produce high‑quality crude assays
  • Provide expert guidance to crude purchase decisions globally
  • Position could require 5‑10% travel (domestic and/or international)
Skills and Qualifications
  • BS / MS in an engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Chemistry only)
  • Degrees in Data Analytics, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, Math, or related fields will be considered & are encouraged to apply
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Industrial experience in at least one of the following: crude assays, planning, scheduling optimization, blending, or refining.
  • Preference given to those with experience in commercial assay or modelling / optimization platforms such as Spiral Assay (CrudeSuite), AspenTech PIMS, AspenTech ORION / APS, Spiral Plan and Schedule etc.
  • Experience in the characterization or processing of alternative / bio refining feedstocks (e.g., vegetable oils)
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and usage of JMP
  • Experience in SQL
  • MS Excel Macro development
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, accuracy, effectiveness, and self‑confidence
